The 7th edition of the International Mobile Film Festival took place April 28 & 29 in a beautiful venue location by the bay. Aside from VIP Guests like Tim Russ, best known for his role as Tuvok in Star Trek Voyager; Brian McLane who shot his entire film A Killer's Requiem, with an iPhone; there was a great Keynote presentation by Filmbreaker's Jason van Genderen and much ado about everything mobile film! The Filmbreaker presentation was the first in the U.S. and it was created by Jason, who lives in Sydney, Australia. Jason motivated and inspired attendees to join the movement and join thousands around the world making films with their smartphones.\r\n\r\nMaking movies and videos with mobile phones was what we celebrated during the weekend with 17 participating films which were all screened on Saturday on a big screen with big sound. Attending filmmakers were delighted with the experience of watching the short films, including their own! \r\n\r\nA film shot with an iPhone by one of our sponsors who was one of the participating filmmakers last year screened with a Q&A with the filmmaker/actor Mickey Harrison of LuLu Films and Shaun Donelson.\r\n\r\nWe opened the festival on Saturday with a feature film special screening of Brian McLane's film in which Tim Russ played a role. The film was 90 minutes in duration and everyone in attendance was treated to a lecture by the director/actor and it was followed by a Q&A with actor Tim Russ. Tim was impressed with the fact that our film festival is exclusive to only films shot with smartphones and he not only took pictures with everyone and even took the time for conversations with the filmmakers.\r\n\r\nWe ended the celebration with a great show on the red carpet, on Sunday. Each filmmaker was escorted by a member of the Star Wars Steampunk Universe cosplay group and had their photos taken before they moved on to take their seats on the staging area for the Awards Ceremony that followed. \r\n![IMFF2018 filmmakers on the red carpet](https://scontent.fsan1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/31531766_1893740524249484_4815801281483362596_n.jpg?_nc_cat=0&oh=154dbc50fa0a5987b56f1983a55d029c&oe=5B97B602)\r\n\r\nThe winners for First and Third place present were Brian Hennings with his short film Focus and Narelle Nash with her short film The Actor. Both of the films were exceptional and were chosen for a nomination to the Global Mobile Film Awards\u2122 which takes place in December online.\r\n\r\nWe wish the whole world could have been present, but this pretty much impossible. However, we asked the filmmakers and a couple of our sponsors to take part in recording a roundtable discussion about their experience in the festival. You can listen to it right now on [Episode 26](https://sbppodcast.podiant.co/e/36300b6414e43e/).
